Speaker
Dr. Aamna AlShehhi is an Assistant Professor at Khalifa University, where she leads the AIM Lab and the MedXAI research team. She holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Engineering specializing in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the MIT. She previously served as postdoctoral fellow at MIT and an Honorary Research Associate at Imperial College London, contributing to transformative research in healthcare technologies.
Her work centers on artificial intelligence, machine learning, bioinformatics, signal processing, digital biomarkers, and large language models to enhance early diagnosis, clinical decision-making, and personalized treatment across a wide range of healthcare applications using multimodal data such as medical imaging, genetic, biosignals, and patient records.
Dr. AlShehhi is the founder of iGenRare, platform leveraging biomedical large language models to transform rare disease diagnosis and management by supporting clinicians, shortening diagnostic journeys, and enabling early intervention. She is also the co-founder of Mashya, a health-tech startup pioneering AI-driven motion analysis solutions. Mashya uses physics-informed vision systems to deliver advanced gait and movement assessments, empowering clinicians and researchers in rehabilitation, fall-risk evaluation, and mobility analytics.
Dr. AlShehhi’s work bridges medicine, AI, and entrepreneurship to accelerate the future of intelligent, patient-centered healthcare.
