Dean of Education Mayo Clinic Minnesota, USA
As the Dean of Education at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), a joint venture between Mayo Clinic and Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, I oversee the development and delivery of world-class medical education and training programs for healthcare professionals in the UAE and beyond. With over 20 years of experience in transfusion medicine and cellular therapies, I am also a consultant and professor at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and a certified international inspector of bone marrow transplant centers and blood banks.
My mission is to advance the field of stem cell biology and its applications in regenerative medicine and cancer immunotherapy. I have conducted and led multiple NIH and industry-sponsored basic science and clinical studies on stem cells, and published several scientific articles and book chapters on this topic. I hold a PhD in Cancer Immunobiology from Sheffield University Cancer Institute, England, and a master's degree in clinical trials and principles of drug development from Harvard University. I am passionate about fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in medical education and research at SSMC.
